10 Things I Like, A Delightful Weekend Edition

Happy Friday, dear readers! We made it! I hope you all had lovely weeks (and if you didn't, at least it's over). My weekend has somehow gotten very busy, but in the best way possible. My plans include a few style events in the city that you'll hear about next week (some for TWT and some for Boston Magazine), one of my good friends coming home from NYC for the weekend (so obviously a dinner party is in order), healthy doses of walking the dog, hopefully a nice Sunday nap, and a Sunday family dinner. Because I'm so excited for my Saturday and Sunday, I've put together a "10 Things I Like" post for the weekend. Read on for ideas about what to drink, where to go, and what to wear--click the photos to follow the links (after the jump).

1. Dinner at Area Four in Kendall Square

I went to A4 last night with a friend from high school whom I hadn't seen in five years. It was wonderful and bizarre how parallel our lives have turned out to be, and such a gift and a pleasure to reconnect and realize how much we like each other and how much fun we still have. I totally adore her; getting to know old friends again is the best thing in the world, and makes me feel warm, fuzzy, and giggly. And the sundae with homemade soft-serve and cheesecake bites? Out. Of. This. World (the photo above is from my piece on Area Four for Boston Magazine).

2. Persol Suprema Sunglasses

I found these on Designer Social's tumblr and I can't get them out of my head. I've always lusted after Persol sunglasses, but these Supremas take it to a new level; I think it might be love.

3. Gin and Juice (well, sparkling wine) via Heart of Light

Here's a yummy looking cocktail from a great blog, Heart of Light. It's got Hendrick's Gin, sparkling wine, and St. Germaine (an elderflower liqueur) in it, which are three of my favorite drinky-drinks. So clearly this is happening at tomorrow night's dinner.

4. Another Last Apache by Fixers

Via the ever-amazing Sunset in the Rearview. I did the cover for the mixtape "We Are The Universe" that the site recently put out, and this song was on it. I can't stop listening. It's a perfect weekend song for driving, or for listening to while doing chores--music always makes folding laundry a bit more exciting.

5. Bicester Japan Tote Bag via Steven Alan

This comes from Steven Alan's designer co-op, and I (and my mom) can't get enough of it. It would be perfect for a weekend outing.

6. Handwritten Cards

My lovely friend whom I haven't been in touch with in a while sent me a birthday card out of the blue (all the way from Minnesota!), and it was the best gift ever. Make someone a card this weekend if you're bored and feeling crafty, it will delight them to no end.

7. Drinks at the Woodward at the Ames Hotel

When one of my friends came up from NYC in December he stayed at the Ames Hotel in the financial district of Boston. A bunch of friends and I hung out there, both in his hotel room (cause ain't no party like a hotel party) and at the Woodward, the bar on the first floor. It's beautiful and has a really fun atmosphere, with great drinks to boot!

8. Walking dogs with friends

Need I say more? Look at my gorgeous friend and her gorgeous dog; what could be better than pulling on your Hunter Boots and your Barbour jacket and strolling through a field? And Rosie in the garden obviously had to make an appearance.

9. Robert Klein Gallery show: Jim Dow's American Studies

I can't wait to go see Jim Dow's show at the Robert Klein Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. I wrote about the show in January and it's finally opened; gotta go see it!

10. Maiden Noir Crew Over Dye Fleece via Concepts

I wrote about Concepts this week and now I can't help going back to their website all the time. I want this sweatshirt--it's perfect for a lazy Sunday (yes, obviously it's for men, but I just don't care anymore).

Happy weekend, all, I hope these suggestions are helpful, or at least fun to look at!
