I love weekend dressing because it's a great excuse to pull on a pair of leggings, thrown on an oversize sweatshirt, scarf, and coat, and pull on some great sneakers or slouchy boots (granted, I'm a writer/photographer, so I dress like this most of the time) (more after the jump).

On the weekend you should wear clothes that make yourself happy and comfortable, especially if you have to wear more structured work clothes during the week. I picked out some of my favorite things and threw them together to serve as your weekly Friday procrastination device (though the links in the post below are pretty good for that, too).

My weekends are when I gather inspiration for the coming week's posts, write some of my longer pieces, and breathe without worrying about what's happening on the internet. I like to go for walks, for long swims, and spend time with my boyfriend, my friends, and my family. I read, I draw, and I watch movies. Weekends, my friends, are sacred.

What do you do to make yourself happy? Let me know in the comments, I want to do a post on the different ways people spend their personal time and what they indulge in (and not just chocolate; indulging can be reading a magazine, staring at a wall, or going for a longer run than usual. Anything that wouldn't fit in your daily week schedule).

  1. Getting off campus to this diner in the center of Middlebury where a bunch of townies gather after church sunday mornings makes me happy. I go there to get some time to myself in a place where people call you "honey". The vermont accents are amazing and I love watching old men talking about george's new huntin dog, or a dad helping his daughter get the ketchup out of the bottle to put on her home fries. I need to see people who are not 18-24 and the Park Diner is a place where I can feel a part of the world again, even if it is small.

  2. Sometimes if I'm by myself out running errands and the sun is out, I will buy a jamba juice smoothie and sit outside and read an entire US magazine from cover to cover and then promptly throw it away.

I also love being anywhere interesting with my camera with lots of time to wander.

I'd love to hear from you. Just don't be mean.
