Beautiful Thing of the Day: Oji Masanori Kami Mug

Oji Masanori Kami Mug from Mjolk (there should be an umlaut above the "o" but I can't figure out how to do that online; it means milk in Sweedish). The store is online, based in Toronto (more after the jump).

I have to say, I adore wooden serving-ware. Plates, trays, cutting boards...if they're wooden, they're one step closer to my liking them. This one is particularly beautiful, though, because the curvature of the mug plays off the downward swoop of the grain. The handle is sweet, too; I feel like this should be in a little Swedish cottage on the shore (I've been reading too many Swedish mystery novels, haven't I?). They also have these simple cups

which are also very lovely. Go Mjolk (these would make great gifts, too)!

  1. To make an umlaut on a Mac use option+u then o. ö, see? If you use a PC I think you have to have your keyboard set to international.

  2. That's so awesome!! Thank you thank you Colleen, I need all the help I can get ;)

  3. Haha no worries. As a former student of various romance languages I picked up a few shortcuts pretty quickly. You can also use the option + pretty much any letter on the keyboard and get most (perhaps all) accents and special characters in European languages.

I'd love to hear from you. Just don't be mean.
